What is the location of the fuse box in a Volkswagen Passat?
Its on the side of the dashboard on the drivers side. You have to open the door, and on the said of the dash (the part hidden by the closed door) there is a black cover you can pop off and that will show the fuse panel. There is also a Fuse/Relay panel under the steering wheel, but you have to take off the plastic knee bolster part.

Answer . \nWhen you open the drivers door you will see an access panel on the sie of the dashboard, the fuse box is behind it.
Answer . The driver's side left-end of the dashboard does not look like an access panel but it is. Open the driver's side door as far as it will go, and then look along the seam between the lighter and darker plastic and you will find a small hole into which you can insert a screwdriver. Gently p…ry the panel off. Inside the panel is a (not very clear and upside down) diagram for which fuse controls which electrical item (and of course the fuses themselves). The icons on the diagram can be a bit confusing, but the owners manual gives more detail about what each fuse is for.. Answer . If you are like me and your Passat has no cover for the fuse box, then you have to take some extra steps. First check below the drivers dash for the fuse box and see if the cover is there. It has this list right on it. My 90 Passat didn't have a cover so I had to purchase an owners manu…al (eBay) which had a partial list (no relays). So, then I purchased a repair manual (again eBay) and it had the completed fuse list/diagram (including relays). I also called a local dealership (parts dept) to confirm that my relay fuses were correct. They just need the location number and part number of each relay. This way I knew that if one space was open it was supposed to be. This worked for me, and the eBay purchases were very inexpensive. Hope that gets you going. (MORE)

Fuse box… cover is on the end of the dash board. Hope this helps\n. \n. \nI'm answering my own question here. It's located behind the hazard lights switch. You have to pop out the old one with a flathead screw driver. Remove it and simply place the new one on. You might need some needle nose plires to pull the actual relay out and also to pull out the connecting end. You might have to play with it for a lil while but it should come completely out. If you still have a hard time just take out the glove box and reach around the tight spots until you reel for thr cords on the connecting end. I did all this in about 30 minutes and saved a lil over 100 dollars. The relay itself cost about 26 dollars at the vw dealership. (MORE)
Answer . At the lower front of the engine you'll see a black plastic cylindrical housing. This unscrews (using a large socket is best since it can be on quite tight) and inside you'll find the filter. Pull it out of the housing as it's a 'plug-on' type, making note of which end is which. Then rep…lace the rubber O-ring gasket on the housing before screwing it back onto the engine. (MORE)

Inside the gas tank. Remove the rear trunk carpet and you can see the round cover. The pump and fuel quantity sensor can be changed without dropping the tank. Always use a new gasket for the cover though, I tried re-using and had leaks.

You can get a fuse box diagram for a 98 Volkswagen Passat at yourlocal auto parts store. You can also look on the cover of the fusebox to see a list of what each fuse run.
There are two, one on the driver4s side and one on the passengers side. Both are hard to see as they are in the back of the engine compartment buried under a number of hoses and crap. Look behind the engine block, just to the left and right and you will be able to see shiny circular disk.....that is… the top of the valves. If that does not help, follow your breather pipe which snakes from the left of the engine in an "L" shape to the back right of the engine....it leads pretty darn close to the driver-side egr valve...also known as the combi-valve. I have a 2003 Mercury sable and have the owners manual and cant seem to find where the fuse is located in the fuse panel. I doesnt even list a fuse for the radio in the owners manual and I know it has to have one. I would appreciate any help or suggestions I could get in this matter. Thanks.
To start, have fun! You have to remove the cover over the engine which will either say 2.5 or 2.0T. It sits under the cover. you also have to disconnect the air intake line, just a normal clamp, then after you get everything unhooked pop the cover off, don't be afraid it won't break, and turn it ove…r, be careful turning it over not to rip any wires. you will find i believe 5 or 6 screws underneath on the cover itself. loosen all of them, you don't have to take it all the way out. and there sits the filter. this takes alot of time and patience, first time i did it, i spent about 40 minutes trying to be careful and not break anything, now i do it in under 10 minutes.
