How do you properly change the coolant and thermostat on a 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible with a V6 2.5 liter MPI engine?
\nUsually removing the radiator drain plug or lower radiator hose. Make sure to have a drain pan large enough to hold the coolant. The thermostat is usually on the upper radiator hose, but shouldn't need replacing unless it is defective.\nBetter yet, get yourself a Chilton service manual for the Seb…ring, they aren't expensive and well worth it. The timing is controlled by the PCM, so there is no timing adjustments. set both your camshafts to 90degrees with the cylinder head and cover mating surfaces, using the little punched holes as your guides. Set cylinder number one to TDC and align the chain marks on the gears as follows: The two col…ored pieces of chain go on the right, and the the left gear and the crankshaft sprocket get one each. Reset your tensioner before reinstalling it or it will fail dismally. Rotete the engine using the crankshaft about three complete revolutions until the timing marks are back to were you set them. Before you close your engine, install the sparkplugs into the boots, but not into the block, then crank your engine and check for spark. If they spark you are good to go. If not remove the camshaft position sensor and try again. If they spark without the sensor in, the rotate you right camshafts by 180 degrees and try again. when working fine, installation is the reverse of the removal. note, be sure your tensioner is fully reset or you will trhow away your engine like an ex-spouse. Answer . It is located on the bottom of the engine near the right front wheel. You will see the radiator hose connected to it. It is VERY difficult to change and I do not recommend you do it yourself.
take tire off then take mud guard off then take bumper clips off top and bottom then you can reach the radiator drain plug easier then from the top. it is located at the very bottom of the radiator.
It ain't easy.. My hand is bleeding, but I did it. Remove the nut on the top left of the housing completely. (hint : Before continuing, locate and loosen the hose clamp screw going from the rear of the filter housing to the intake on the engine, sliding the hose off the intake) Lift (filter) housing… away from stem. On the air hose leading into the housing, pull back the tabs and pull housing UP and out toward you. A lot of wiggling required (hint: if you followed the hint above, a lot less wiggling is required - it pulls up and out pretty easily, and don't forget to un-clip the wires on the left of the housing). The filter is a cone shaped blue and white thing sticking into the housing. Good luck! (MORE)

How do you change the spark plugs on a 2004 Chrysler sebring 2.7 liter engine and do you tighten hard or loose?
Answer . Remove the plugs one at a time and replace with a new plug you have gapped properly. Tighten to the proper torque Do not over-torque plugs. You risk damage to cylinder heads (particularly aluminum ones), and proper firing depends on the plug being at precisely the right height relative t…o the cylinder. I will list a link to Torque Specs. below.. It is necessary to remove the upper intake plenum. Purchase the intake gaskets when you purchase the plugs. You also have to remove the coils one at a time, remove the plugs w/a 5/8" spark plug socket, coat the threads of the new plug with a small dab of anti size compound, thread the plugs in using only the socket and extension after the contact the head tighten an additional 1/16 turn. Answer . \nfirst by taking all of the 2.0 out and finding a 3.0L and fabbing some motor mounts out of the seibring to fit the neon. i also have a 95 neon and currently putting a srt4 engine in it with stage 3 components. this like the 3.0 swap requires the wiring harness out of the seibring and …computer just like srt4. the hardest part is fabricating the motor mounts to fit. if your not mechanically inclined then turn this project down. because many headaches and confusing things will happen but well worth it in the end. especially when your turning 15 or 16 in the 1/2 mile. in a 95 neon, i know all this because my current project 95 neon is getting swapped by me and a friend with srt4 and i just finished helping my friend with the 3.0 in his 96 neon. both these neon are highlines also. some years in 1st gen neon on sport models are slightly different dimensions in the firewall so watch that or uall have a tight fit. hope this can help you e-mail if any more questions. at N2_NEONS@hotmail.com (MORE)

look for this . \nI have no idea but if you follow the top radiator hose back to the engine you should come to a bulbious rounded connection that the hose is attached to and under that is generally a thermostat. It will have a couple of bolts holding that piece to the engine block.
It is located on the lower right hand corner on the inside toward the engine. It is very hard to see and best seen from the bottom side.
I had the same on an '04 Sebring Conv. 2.7L. I found the unit (with a mechanic friend's help) on the backside of the engine. It is right in the center of the engine towards the bottom. Sorry if that's a bit cryptic... If I remember right, you will need deep socket to get the unit out.
On the 2.7 litre engine, the intake air temperature sensor is located in the plastic air plenum that runs from the air filter box to throttle body just right of the throttle body. It would help if you stated what type of vehicle it is. There are several 2.7 engines in different vehicle types.
It is located under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine.

You have a blown gasket somewhere. Probably a head gasket. These 2.7 litres are notorious for the water pump bearing failures these water pumps are very expensive to get replaced since their timing chain driven
The 2000 Dodge Intrepid with the 2.7L 6-cylinder came in twoengines with code 'U' and 'EER.' Both engines specify a engine oilfill of 5-quarts, including the filter. 5 and 10W30 can be used inthis engine. 0W30 can be used in arctic and severe winterconditions, in addition to all-season use.
this is what the junk yard guy told me so take it with a grain of salt, I have no first hand knowledge. he said an 01 sebring sedan or convertible and 01 stratus.
Of course you can. Do a google search on "2.7 to 3.5 swap" and you'll find a web forum that discusses the swap including which engines work and what parts you'll be needing.. There is good news about this swap: The 3.5L engine swap is actually CHEAPER than replacing your 2.7! You'll get more power …and have a much better engine in the end. Gas mileage may suffer a bit, but who cares when you mash down on the pedal and you go! (MORE)
i replaced mine on a 2001 sebring sedan lxi, when you face the front of the car, it is on the left side of your engine, down between the coolant reservoir and the engine side. there is a black plug that covered the bolt on mine. I had to get a 13mm "long shaft" lug to get it unscrewed. if it is a ti…ght area for your hands, you may have to partially remove the coolant reservoir (have another bottle of coolant ready, in case you lose a lot from removing it. did you set the gap correctly? Did you crack the plug when putting it in? is it possable you damaged the plug wire pulling it off? Pray its one of the front three? Test by taking one plug wire off @ a time and see if the miss changes if not that's the one.
It could be your power steering pump, check power steering level. Also could be alternator or AC bearings.
The regulator is part of the fuel pump. You have to drop the fueltank to access.
If your check engine light is on replace your camshaft sensor if your check engine light isn't on it could mean theres a fuel problem you may have a clogged injector or a fuel pump going bad
Idle speed is automaticaly controlled by the computer. If idle speed is not correct, the car has a vacuum leak or a sensor problem.
The best place to find an engine diagram for a Chrysler Sebringwould be in the owner's manual. If you do not have your, contactChrysler or check your library.
The 2.7L is the only direct fit. The Sebring could have been builtwith a 2.4L, but you would need the proper transmission, computers, and wiring harnesses.
There are four engine mounts, one in the front, back, left and right. A real pain, unless you remove the engine to install.
Yes. This is being done by some to replace the infamous 2.7L sludge bucket that were put in many Chrysler models in the early 2000's. here's a link to a forum with some helpful information on the process... http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45070
that depends. it should be able to produce the same amount of horsepower as it gas counter part if it is tuned correctly, but it will get slightly less gas milleage. if it is boosted(turbo or supercharged) you can turn the boost up higher since propane is 104 or more octane, and that will achieve mo…re power. The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on,… too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area. A flashing light is an indication of a misfire. See related questions below for more info. (MORE)
