How do you reset the brake pad wear warning light after pads have been replaced on a VW Passat 1.9 TDI?
There isn't any reset on the brake pad light; if your pads are replaced and the sensor on the pads are plugged in properly it should go out. Some shops try to install pads wit…hout sensors from older models that do fit, but have no sensors. you can test your sensors checking for continuity with a multimeter or test lamp. Additionally, you may test your system by unplugging the pads and jumping the plug on the car ( not the pad), if the warning light goes out; check the continuity of the pad, if the pad test good then it is likely a connection issue.
Once you correct the problem the light will go off. Can be low of brake fluid, parking brake might be partially on, defective Master Cylinder, etc. Do not ignore this light as… this can cause your brakes to fail.

How do you reset the brake pad warning light for a 2005 c320 mercedes benz?
The type of sensor used is sacrificial in design and must be replaced once the pad wear indicator has been activated on the relevant wheel. When replacing the pads, disconnect… the sensors one at a time, front and rear, and test for continuity (complete circuit) with a multimeter or test lamp and 12volt power source. The faulty sensor, which will in normal circumstances will be the front left one, will not reveal a complete circuit and you have now located the "fault". Replacements may be ordered from your dealer. Alternatively, to "reset" or clear the displayed fault from your dash, you have only to complete the circuit of the sensor cable! No resistors are required to be fitted to achieve this. It should be further noted that pads and discs should be replaced at the same time as they are designed to wear together, replacing the discs does not entail fitting new wheel bearings as the discs mount directly to a spindle hub and are retained by one countersunk screw until the wheels are refitted, machining of the discs is not recommended.

As far asI'm aware it should reset when new wear sensors are installed in the new pads automatically as new wear sensors are required every time they wear down enoug to turn t…he light on.
Change the brake pads sensors. You must change them after every brake pad swap.
