The cost of replacing a part is a very general question that unless specified exactly is hard to answer. First, is who is replacing the part? Is the Dealer, an independent repair shop, a junkyard, the guy next door or you doing the replacement. These will all yield different prices. Not to mention t…hat within all of these will be different labor rates and different part price mark ups. Second, what is the quality of the part? Is it a name brand, generic (white box, economy), OEM or used part? All of these will be different. Price will even differ between name brands, sometimes significantly. Thirdly, What is the warranty of the part and who is offering the warranty (the shop the parts house or the manufacturer). Limited Lifetime will have restrictions. Lifetime warranty isnt always the best part either. Fourthly, Each vehicle can have different options that will affect how long it takes to change a part or make it call for a different part. Such as heavy duty cooling system, air conditioning, 4x4s may have a steel plate that may need removal, Automatic or manual transmission, the list goes on. Fifthly, What additional parts will be required? Long life coolant or standard coolant, R12 or R134a air conditioning freon if it needs to be discharged or replaced? Additional adapters other fluids that may need to be added or changed? All of this will affect price. Sixthly, is the car a new car or an older car? Labor manuals or guides are set up based on a new car. Additional time may be required due to seized or rusted bolts, additional aftermarket accessories that were installed etc. So you can see where there is a great potential for variances. I offer this insight: If you take it to an independent garage like I always recommend, consider how long they have been in business. What is the quality of there work, are they honest? (see the FAQ how do you choose an auto repair shop for additional insights). (MORE)

What could cause the engine to shake in a 1993 Toyota Camry if you already replace both motor mounts?
Does one of the replaced motor mounts include the transmission mount which could actually function like a 3rd motor mount? Check that as I have seen them go bad. Answer Spark knock can cause engine to shake get your car checked for emissions Answer 93 4 cyls are notoriously "shaky" if you feel… it mostly in the steering wheel and its not too severe, there is a TSB from Toyota that has a number of parts in it that may help. improved (softer) radiator hoses, radiator lower mounts, as well as the motor mounts you've already replaced are included and have helped me to fix many similar problems.(a tuneup can help this also and its really the best place to start). the car is no longer under warranty however so you will have to pay for the parts and labor to fix it. What would cause a battery cell to go bad approximately every 6 months on a 2002 Nissan Maxima Dealership has replaced 4 batteries in 3 years. They state the alternator and starter test oK.?
Answer . \nBelieve it or not, it may be as simple as a bad battery cable. Have the cables tested for power drain.
Answer . \nFirst disconnect the Negative terminal cable, then the positive cable (with red cover). Remove the battery holddown. Remove the plastic battery cover, then the battery. Make sure the new battery is of the proper size (see chart in store). Reverse procedure, making sure you connect the… Positive terminal first and the negative terminal last (it's a good idea to clean the inside of the cable terminals with emery cloth or steel wool). When putting in the new battery, be careful that the negative cable does not fall into the space below or you will have to remove the new battery to get to it. Start the engine and reset the clock and radio presets. (MORE)
\n. \n Answer \n. \n. \nLarge channel locks or C-clamp, wrench or sockets to remove lug nuts, and caliper pins, wire brush or brush or your weapon of choice to clean all sliding surfaces.\n. \nWhen the clipers are off, the piston will be out too far for the new pads to clear the rotor. To pu…sh the piston back in you take a small piece of wood (I've even used an old brake pad) to distribute the c-clamp pressure across the whole piston. Use slow steady cranking on the c-clampto push the piston all the way back in. Now the pads will fit and you're all set to put it back together. (MORE)

Hey,I have exactly the same problem. My friend, who is a mechanic, took a look at it. We checked the fuses and fuseable links in the engine compartment and the fuses in the interior panel and all was fine. He fixed the ignition switch and checked the contacts, but still no response from the tail or d…ash lights. After about five hours he gave up. So I'm taking it to a Nissan dealer tomorrow to see if they can diagnose what it is.My advice to you is that its most likely not a fuse or fuseable link. Probably a loose wire. I will repost when I get this problem fixed. Answer The mechanic I went to confirmed there was a bad fuse for the tail lights, which I fixed. The instrument panel/dashboard light is still off, suggesting there is probably a short in the wire which I am attempting to locate. (MORE)

How do you replace the windshield washer fluid motor on a 1998 Nissan Maxima SE when you know the motor is in the fluid reservoir but you cannot figure out how to get the reservoir out?
Don't remove the reservoir. You can wiggle the pump and it will come out of the reservor. You may have to remove some of the cowling underneath the car to have access to it.
After replacing motor mounts the car is locked in park but can manually put into gear from under the hood what sensor in the steering column could be bad?
Answer . There is a safety switch that keeps you from accidentally shifting from park. You're supposed to press the brake pedal to release the Park Lock. If the brake pedal sensor switch is adjusted wrong it won't release the park lock. If the connectors to the release are faulty or disconnected…, the park lock won't release. You may have accidentally knocked a wire loose when you replaced the motor mounts. (MORE)

The engine on your 1999 Nissan Maxima is starting to shake but the car does not stall what can be causing that?
The car might need a tuneup . also the problem might be related to fuel injectors that are not working properly.
socket wrench, vice grips, screw driver. It's easy like a puzzle piece if the rotor is not scarred. The pads clip into place but if you waited too long you'll have to replace the rotor. You can get all the parts and advice from Auto Zone. I've done mine on my 97 Maxima twice.

wheel bearings, any play in the wishbones, antiroll bar bushes, trackrod end/steering rack, tracking setup and wheel balancing or wheel conditions (out of shape) sorry for such a long list but without test driving the car its hard to say, if its a transverse engine and it was fine before the driveshaf…t was replaced its more than likely a tracking issue (MORE)

Why could possibly cause the temperature gauge on a Nissan Maxima to raise after the car is idling for a couple of minutes?
You need to check the radiator and be sure it is full. It can be empty and the overflow tank full. If it is full then check and be sure the radiator cooling is working when the engine is at operating temperature.
I was just quoted $770 today. I don't know how that compares with others...but that's my quote.
You sometimes smell gasoline fumes in side the cabin of your 1995 Nissan Maxima what could be the cause other than the fuel filter which you just replaced?
On a 1995 Nissan maxima there is a piece or 5-6" rubber that cracks in the winter and will create the smell of gas fumes inside the cabin. The piece is located on the passenger side just to the left of the valve cover. fallow the fuel rail and you will see it or in the morning when you start up the …vehicle, grab a flashlight and look in that general direction. Your nose should guide you right to the spot. In the winter I use (Heet) this seems to help with it not cracking. Good luck! (MORE)
Most alternators in market are rebuild. Mechanics use them a lot to save you money. They usually come with one year warrenty. However, if you buy an alternator from a Nissan dealer, it would run for a minimum of 3 years. Just do not buy it from any where else but a Nissan dealer. Regards.
Can you replace the electronic motor mount on a Nissan maxima with an aftermarket non electronic mount?
Yes you can....I just did it to my car. There is no need for an electronic motor mount- they are over-priced, and can cause damage to your car's ECM. -Glenn K.
If you are looking for a used one go to car-part.com. type in info and zip code to find one near you.

You have to first remove the rear seat and "C" pillar inside covers so you can remove the rear deck cover. The "3rd" brake light housing will have to be removed, too. This is done by slowly and carefully pulling the driver side of the housing toward the front of the car, so it twists and rotates on …the passenger side. This must be done carefully because there is a good chance you may snap the plastic piece that holds the housing down. Next remove the rear seat bench by pulling of the 2 latch mechanisms on the bottom/front of the bench and lift bench out. The seat back is held in by 4 10mm bolts: 2 on the outsides, which are obvious and 2 that are hidden by the cover connecting the middle armrest/pass-through-to trunk area. This cover can be easily removed where it connects to trunk area by pulling up. Once the 4 bolts are out, the seat back can be lifted off of its upper supports and removed pretty easily. Now for those "C" piller covers. Those are held in place by many snap fasteners and can be removed with a standard trim removal tool. The seat belts running through them can stay. You just need to remove the covers and let them hang out of the way before you can remove the rear deck cover....which can now be done by pulling up with the trim removal tool at the snap fasteners (so you don't break the press-board deck). I believe there are 4 fasteners. Some, if not all, can be seen (and "squeezed through" the holes) by going through the trunk. Either way, once you remove the deck, you can remove the speakers by unscrewing them from the top. I know, I know. It's a LOT of work, but it's worth it once you get to listen to your new speakers ROCK! Hope this helps. . Try to use the Nissan speaker adapters plugs so you don't need to cut wires and mess up the electric system, you can get those from eBay or amazon. (MORE)

More likely to be an air leak than a sensor problem. Check your vacuum and air intake lines for leaks.
Typically, engines are internally, or externally balanced to reduce horizontal movement and vibration. If a mount is bad or disconnected, the torque from the engine could possibly create a shimmy with the whole assembly, but I really doubt it. check your ball joints and tie-rods just in case.
What could be causing your car to knock It sounds like it is coming from the lower end of the motor?
check your fly wheel it might be coming loose. if it knocks alot when you shut it off that is most likely what it is
Under normal circumstances no , the chain normally needs no replacement. It is designed to last the life of the engine and is replaced during a complete engine rebuild.
